Job Overview:

Sports Business Journal is looking for a Social Media Content Creator to help us create original and engaging content for our social media accounts. In this role, you will be responsible for researching and turning content ideas into short-form, “built-for-social” videos that highlight SBJ’s expansive editorial portfolio from the weekly magazine to digital content to podcasts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Brainstorm creative and unique “built-for social” content ideas that are clearly aligned with Sports Business Journal’s social strategy.
  • Ideate and create engaging social content (video and graphics) across all channels.
  • Handle the production and editing of social-specific content through filming, creating visuals, copywriting and more.
  • Adapt content for use across different social networks such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn.
  • Collaborate with social media manager to keep track of content calendars and deliverables.
  • Monitor current social media trends and storylines across platforms to identify new opportunities and content offerings.
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in a creative role within social media or digital marketing.
  • A passion for and deep understanding of the sports space (both professional and collegiate)
  • Knowledge of social trends as they pertain to the world of sports, business and media.
  • Hands-on experience as a content creator with a background in short-form video creation.
  • A strong storyteller who knows how to translate print stories into compelling digital content.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and keep stakeholders informed of progress.
  • Able and willing to travel to multiple events throughout the calendar year as needed.
  • Results-driven mindset with the ability to analyze data and drive decisions based on insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various departments.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in a global organization with different cultures and communication styles.

Preferred / Good to have

  • Experience in graphic design.
  • Experience with photography.
  • Experience creating content for podcasts.
  • Background or experience working for a media/news company.
  • Background or experience working for a professional sports organization or agency.
