Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) is seeking a Manager of Corporate Communications to assist with the promotion of HSE’s business initiatives.
You will work closely with the Director of Corporate Communications on the day-to-day operations, strategies and objectives of the department. The ideal candidate will have exceptional writing, editing and organizational skills and a willingness to learn and flourish in a fast-growing, evolving environment.
Additionally, the candidate will have a creative mindset and approach towards developing publicity campaigns and announcements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Promote organization’s business initiatives in areas such as corporate social responsibility (CSR), ticket sales, marketing, corporate partnerships, retail and more.
- Develop, write and edit copy for various organizational platforms to be disseminated both externally and internally, including press releases, media advisories, talking points, marketing and promotional materials, and more.
- Help establish messaging for organization and individual departments, including specific marketing campaigns.
- Build, execute and recap publicity plans and campaigns around corporate and business initiatives.
- Proactively pitch stories to media to increase awareness of organization’s business successes and community efforts.
- Develop creative publicity announcements for various organizational business initiatives
- Assist with public relations and communications efforts around Spectrum Center, including renovations, F&B offerings and more.
- Assist with award nominations.
- Assist with preparation for media events and interviews.
- Assist with organization’s media monitoring.
- Assist with Hornets Alumni outreach and engagement opportunities.
- Respond to media inquiries.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills, Experience, and Abilities
To perform the job successfully, you will have or demonstrate the following skills and abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, sports management, English or related field preferred
- Excellent communication skills including writing, editing and verbal; ability to present ideas clearly and concisely
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Knowledge of AP style
- Experience with writing, research, editing and transcription
- Experience with communicating to various audiences
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Willingness to learn and flourish in a fast-growing, evolving environment
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize when given clearly defined goals and objectives
- Ability to handle multiple projects with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when privy to sensitive information
- Ability to be a flexible and reliable teammate, both within the department and the company as a whole
- Ability to present self in professional manner and interact with all levels of the organization and outside stakeholders, ranging from season ticket holders to corporate and community partners to vendors.
- Ability to work extended hours on occasion, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to attend games and events when necessary
