We are looking for a Communications Specialist to join our team. This full-time position is based in Charlotte, NC.

About the Communications Specialist role:

Strong communication underpins everything we do at Cardea. Our team members interface with clients in highly regulated industries at the executive level with elevated communication style, executive presence and tailored presentation skills. Our team shows up in a professional way in all settings.

The Communications Specialist will play a pivotal role in shaping and upholding a positive image for Cardea and our clients through strategic communication, brand stewardship and proactive risk management. This role builds trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, crafts high-impact messaging and promotes key initiatives, all while anticipating and managing public perception. Responsibilities include leading PR initiatives, developing and executing multi-channel communication plans, supporting executive communication and aligning messaging with organizational goals. The Communications Specialist will also measure communication effectiveness, adapt strategies based on insights and ensure a consistent, credible brand presence across all platforms.

Responsibilities:

Communications

  • Craft executive-level communications for the company and its clients.
  • Ensure accuracy and uphold AP style and brand standards by writing and proofreading with strong attention to detail.
  • Perform research on timely topics and industry trends.
  • Assist in the planning and management of the design, content and production of marketing materials.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Relationship Management

  • Build long-term relationships with clients and other key stakeholders.
  • Respond promptly to client and team member concerns with a solution-focused approach.
  • Coordinate scheduling and logistics as necessary.
  • Document and deliver action items and notes from meetings.

Project Management

  • Provide regular project reports and updates.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques to ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope and budget.
  • Coordinate with internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.

Team and Culture Building

  • Be willing to jump in to support our team as needed.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador on all occasions.
  • Adhere to Cardea’s vision, mission and beliefs.
  • Commit to continuous education and development through workshops, seminars and conferences.
  • Maintain a positive attitude with a continued desire to go above and beyond to deliver results.

Qualifications, capabilities and skills:

  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to craft clear, persuasive content for various audiences and platforms.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and high-quality, error-free copy.
  • Adaptable and agile in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passionate about organization and continuous improvement with a proven track record of influence and execution.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrates executive presence and accountability.
  • Positive, can-do attitude balanced with strong risk management and problem-solving abilities.
  • Anticipates challenges and proactively address them while maintaining a steady work pace.

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or similar field from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • 1–3 years of experience in public relations, communications or related field
  • Membership and involvement in Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) or Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is preferred.
