As a Principal Consultant in Content Strategy at Slalom, you will help enterprise clients transform content from a cost center into a business asset.

You’ll lead the development of content strategies that are data-informed, modular, reusable, and scalable—designed to serve users and drive measurable business outcomes across the full digital ecosystem.

This is a highly visible, senior, client-facing leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of structured content design, governance, and cross-functional collaboration. You will guide clients in modernizing how content is planned, created, delivered, and optimized across platforms, markets, and channels—including websites, commerce platforms, mobile apps, social media, and emerging AI interfaces.

What You’ll Do

Strategic Planning & Alignment

  • Define visions for future-state content that aligns to business goals, user needs, and brand identity
  • Conduct content audits, user research, and stakeholder interviews to assess content performance and inform strategy
  • Identify opportunities to reduce complexity, increase consistency, and support omnichannel storytelling

Content Modeling, Taxonomy & Metadata

  • Design structured content models and reusable content types to support omnichannel delivery and personalization at scale
  • Lead taxonomy and metadata strategies that improve UX, search, content governance, and localization efficiency
  • Enable the use of headless CMS platforms (e.g., Contentful) through robust content modeling and modular design

Content Operations & Governance

  • Map content workflows across the lifecycle: creation → review → publishing → archival
  • Define governance frameworks, roles, and responsibilities that clarify ownership and ensure content quality
  • Support change management and tool adoption by creating documentation and training content authors and stakeholders

Optimization, UX & SEO Integration

  • Partner with UX, SEO, marketing, and analytics teams to ensure content supports user journeys and conversion
  • Implement tagging and keyword optimization strategies to support discoverability and search performance (SEO, AEO, AIO)
  • Use analytics to define KPIs and optimize content performance through continuous iteration

Platform Integration & Migration Support

  • Align content strategy with platform capabilities (e.g., Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Adobe Experience Manager, Sitecore)
  • Provide strategic guidance on CMS migrations, platform evaluations, and content enablement for DXP ecosystems

Thought Leadership & Practice Growth

  • Contribute to Slalom’s content strategy POVs, tools, and service offerings
  • Represent Slalom in workshops, conferences, and industry events
  • Support opportunity shaping and proposal development by bringing a content-first lens to pre-sales and pursuits

Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Mentor junior and mid-level strategists and support their growth through coaching and knowledge sharing
  • Collaborate with designers, engineers, product managers, and marketers in interdisciplinary delivery teams
  • Foster an inclusive, creative team environment that celebrates experimentation, diversity, and shared learning

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in content strategy, content design, or content operations
  • 3+ years in a consulting or agency environment, working with enterprise clients across industries
  • Proven success designing and implementing structured, enterprise-scale content strategies
  • Deep experience in taxonomy, metadata, and structured content modeling for headless CMS platforms
  • Expertise in content workflows, governance, SEO/AEO/AIO strategies, and performance measurement
  • Comfort working in cross-functional environments with product, design, tech, and marketing
  • Strong storytelling and facilitation skills with executive presence
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Contentful, AEM, Sitecore, and Salesforce Commerce Cloud
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Master’s degree a plus
