Join the company defining what it means to be an Impact Lender!

Mortgages are what we do, but that doesn’t define who we are. In 2008, Movement disrupted the industry with the innovative 6-7-1 mortgage process. In 2023, we pioneered again, helping launch Impact Lending – a new category of lending. Any mortgage lender that commits at least 10% of its profits to helping the neighborhoods it serves is an Impact Lender.

At Movement, we are Impact Lenders. We give 40%-50% of our profits to making an impact in our communities. For us, purpose and people have always come before profit.

Join a Company That’s Always Been Built to Disrupt

We’ve never played this game the traditional way.

Movement was founded in 2008, in the middle of a financial crisis. When most companies were trying to survive, we were building something different. We introduced 6-7-1 and changed how mortgages move. We helped pioneer Impact Lending, proving a business can win and give back at scale. We give 40-50% of profits to the communities we serve.

And now? We’re leaning into what’s next.

We are builders. We move fast. We test, learn, and ship. AI isn’t a side project here. It’s part of how we create, communicate, and compete every day.

Mortgages are what we do. Building the future is who we are.

The Role

This is not a writing role. It’s a communications infrastructure role.

We’re looking for a communications apprentice who understands that great messaging is only as powerful as the system behind it. Someone who can partner with internal stakeholders to help their ideas reach the right audience, and who won’t stop at “here’s the draft” when “here’s a better process” is also possible.

You will sit inside our Marketing team, work in-office at our National Sales Support Center, and serve as a trusted partner to leaders, departments, and teams across the company. You’ll help shape what we say, how we say it, when it goes out, and who receives it. You’ll also support our events team, helping ensure that our biggest moments are planned, communicated, and experienced well.

If there’s a better way to run communications intake, you’ll build it. If a team leader has something important to say but doesn’t know how to say it, you’ll help them find the words. If the dissemination process has friction, you’ll remove it.

You’ll be mentored closely. You’ll also be expected to bring us approaches we haven’t considered yet.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to develop clear, compelling messaging for internal audiences, announcements, change communications, and leadership updates.
  • Own and evolve the communications intake process, creating a system that’s organized, fast, and easy for teams to use.
  • Develop and manage a content calendar and dissemination strategy that ensures messages reach the right people through the right channels at the right time.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate content creation, editing, routing, and distribution workflows.
  • Support the events team on internal and external events, helping with pre-event communication, on-site messaging, and post-event follow-through.
  • Work closely with Marketing, HR, Leadership, and other departments to translate priorities into communications that people actually read.
  • Evaluate emerging AI tools for writing, editing, workflow automation, and communications management, and put the useful ones to work.
  • Identify patterns in communications requests and proactively build templates, systems, and tools that reduce repeat effort and improve consistency.
  • Maintain brand voice and message alignment across all internal communications outputs.
  • Help improve how Movement’s communications function operates at scale as the company grows.

Who You Are

  • A clear, confident communicator who can write for a leader, a Slack channel, and a town hall in the same week.
  • Curious about AI and already testing tools to work faster and smarter.
  • A systems thinker who sees inefficiency as a puzzle to solve, not a background condition to accept.
  • Comfortable working with senior leaders while managing multiple competing requests.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and steady under deadline pressure.
  • Energized by variety and the challenge of making complicated things simple.
  • Open to feedback and always looking for ways to sharpen your craft.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in communications, marketing, content, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated use of AI tools to improve writing, workflows, or communications processes.
  • Strong writing and editing skills across formats, including long-form, short-form, and conversational.
  • Experience working with internal stakeholders or cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort managing a high volume of requests.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.

Even Better

  • Experience with project management or intake tools (Wrike, Asana, Monday, Notion, etc.).
  • Familiarity with internal communications platforms, intranets, or email marketing tools.
  • Experience supporting events, executive communications, or change management messaging.
  • Mortgage or financial services experience.

Compensation and Benefits

Expected salary range: $56,000 – $87,000, with final compensation determined by experience. Ranges may vary by geography.

We also offer: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability, Critical Care, Hospitalization, HSA, FSA, DCFSA, and QTE benefits. 401(k) and Roth retirement plans. 16 days of front-loaded PTO. 11.5 paid holidays per year. Employee assistance program. Strong growth and advancement opportunities.

Final Note

We are not looking for someone to manage a mailbox.

We are looking for someone who reimagines how communication works here and makes the whole company sharper because of it.

If you’re energized by storytelling, systems, and helping people connect around a shared mission, you’ll feel at home here.

We’re definitely not your average mortgage company. When you’re ready to grow your career AND your impact, we’re ready for you. We’re also one of the nation’s top lenders and are redefining corporate culture. We work hard, we have fun, we invest in our people and we make a difference.
