About Move For Jenn Foundation
Move For Jenn is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, based in Charlotte, NC, dedicated to restoring mobility—and hope—for individuals who have lost limbs due to sarcoma or related diseases.
The Foundation provides grants for active‑wear prosthetics that are not typically covered by insurance, enabling amputees to return to the physical activities they love. In addition, the Foundation supports sarcoma research, awareness initiatives, and advocacy efforts to help find a cure and advance treatment options.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will serve as the driving force behind the Foundation’s operational leadership, development strategy, and community engagement.
As a 30‑hour/week, hybrid position, the ED will oversee grant‑writing, fundraising, sponsorship cultivation, event planning, administrative tasks, and community outreach to amplify impact and revenue.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Writing & Fundraising
- Research and write grant proposals to foundations, corporate funders, and individual donors.
- Cultivate and steward relationships with current and prospective major donors and sponsors.
- Grant-writing internally to gift activewear prosthetics for individual sarcoma survivors and funding for targeted sarcoma research.
- Ensure accurate donor tracking and grant documentation. Fluent in Donorbox.
Event Planning & Sponsorships
- Lead planning and execution of signature events like the Pajamas All Day 5K and Move For Jenn Open.
- Creating and planning new key events for the foundation to assist in fundraising.
- Creating new strategies to increase creativity, outreach and fundraising.
- Identify, secure, and manage event sponsors and vendor/donor partners.
- Develop event budgets, timelines, and post‑event fundraising analysis.
Community Outreach & Advocacy
- Serve as key representative and spokesperson in the Charlotte community.
- Build partnerships with local hospitals, oncology teams, sarcoma researchers, local businesses, corporations, health and fitness groups.
- Fostering current and cultivating new sponsor/donor relationships.
- Conduct outreach to expand awareness of sarcoma and activewear prosthetics support.
4. Programs & Grant Admin
- Oversee recipient selection process and grant distribution for active‑wear prosthetics.
- Track impact metrics, maintain program records and share recipient stories while protecting confidentiality.
5. Marketing & Media / Social Media (Optional)
- Working with our Communications and Social Media Manager to help oversee social media content (Instagram, newsletter, web updates), highlighting events, grantees, board members, and research collaborations.
- Act as media liaison and public speaker as needed.
6. Board Engagement & Strategy
- Work with the Board to implement strategic plans and financial oversight.
- Provide regular status reports (monthly or quarterly) on operations, fundraising, programming, and financial health.
- Support board development and engagement efforts.
Qualifications
Required:
- 3 – 5 years of nonprofit leadership or program management experience, ideally in fundraising, community-based health, or advocacy.
- Proven experience writing successful grant proposals and managing sponsorship relationships.
- Strong organizational planning and event execution skills.
- Effective communicator and public speaker comfortable in community/outreach settings.
- Deep alignment with the organization’s mission and values.
Preferred:
- Experience in healthcare-related nonprofits or disease advocacy organizations.
- Familiarity with sarcoma, amputee support, prosthetics, or personalized medicine funding efforts.
- Experience working with event boards or advisory boards.
Compensation & Benefits
Part‑time: 30 hours/week
- Flexible schedule. Occasional weekends/evenings required for events.
- Remote / hybrid work available, based in the Charlotte area.
- Mileage or travel reimbursement as required.
