The Digital Asset Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation, governance, and optimization of Hornets Sports & Entertainment’s (HSE) Digital Asset Management (DAM) ecosystem, with PhotoShelter serving as the primary platform.
This role oversees the full lifecycle of photo and video assets—from ingestion and metadata tagging to access management, delivery, and long-term archival—supporting all HSE departments and external partners.
Reporting to the Director of User Technology and Project Manager, the Digital Asset Manager works closely with IT, Communications, Consumer Engagement, and creative teams to ensure assets are discoverable, secure, and efficiently distributed. This role balances hands-on asset management with user support, workflow improvement, and system governance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Own the day-to-day administration of digital asset systems such as but not limited to PhotoShelter and Mimir, including asset ingestion, metadata standards, taxonomy governance, access controls, and distribution workflows
- Manage the complete photo and video asset lifecycle, including file naming, IPTC metadata tagging, quality control, uploads, delivery, and archival preservation
- Lead preservation and archival cataloging of the Charlotte Hornets historical asset library dating back to 1988
- Ensure assets are consistently categorized, searchable, and aligned with organizational standards through regular audits and quality checks
- Serve as a primary IT Help Desk resource for asset management–related requests, troubleshooting, and user support
- Manage user access and permissions to ensure internal teams can efficiently and securely locate and use assets
- Partner with Communications, Consumer Engagement, and creative teams on special projects and workflow enhancements to improve productivity and user experience
- Review and approve asset uploads from contract contributors and third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with approved metadata, naming conventions, and upload processes
- Support integrations and workflows between PhotoShelter and related tools (e.g., Workfront, OneDrive, Dropbox, FTP solutions, AP Images, CatDV)
- Champion continuous improvement with a focus on operational controls, information security, and risk management
- Document processes, standards, and best practices for DAM usage across the organization
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills, Experience and Abilities
You will need to demonstrate the following competencies to be successful in this role:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Library Science, Information Science, Archival Science, Communication Management, Marketing, or a related field (preferred, not required)
- Strong experience working with Digital Asset Management systems, with hands-on responsibility for metadata, governance, and user access (PhotoShelter experience strongly preferred)
- Deep comfort working with large-scale media libraries, including still photography and video assets
- Extensive knowledge of macOS environments
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud and modern photo/video production workflows
- Familiarity with audio, video, and image file formats, containers, codecs, and delivery standards
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, paired with the ability to think strategically about long-term asset management
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams
- Proven problem-solving skills and comfort navigating unique or ambiguous situations
- Strong time management, adaptability, and openness to feedback

- Availability to work a variable schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, Hornets home games, and arena events as needed
