The Greater Charlotte Region Community Engagement Director is responsible for planning and executing a comprehensive community engagement strategy designed to enhance and strengthen Novant Health’s reputation for remarkable patience experience, its leadership in community outreach and social responsibility, and create opportunities for all Novant Health team members in the region served to serve and grow together.
This position provides leadership and management of Novant Health’s involvement in community programs that support the organization’s vision in the region of responsibility. These programs and services may include charitable contributions, in-kind services and donations, event sponsorships, partnership programs, and team member volunteerism and giving. Novant Health’s community engagement efforts support access to care; trusted and effective partnerships; measurable outcomes; and brand awareness.
The Director will report to the Vice President of Corporate Affairs and coordinate closely with health equity, marketing and communications, development and regional leadership to develop and implement an external outreach strategy in alignment with Novant Health’s strategic goals. Additionally, this position will create and manage mutually-beneficial partnerships with external stakeholders and nonprofit partners to further these objectives.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of five years of professional work experience in corporate social responsibility, philanthropy, nonprofit/public organizations, or hospital or community health setting required. Corporate Citizenship, Corporate Social Responsibility certification preferred.
Additional skills required:
- Demonstrated ability to construct, articulate and implement annual community engagement/corporate social responsibility plan and manage a related budget.
- High level of organizational and management skills and demonstrated ability to motivate staff to achieve departmental goals.

- Exhibited ability to problem-solve and resolve conflicts effectively and successfully communicate with diverse stakeholders, including Novant Health team members and leaders.
- Event planning and/or marketing experience.
- Local and regional travel for business purposes is required. Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable, insured vehicle. Flexible work schedule to include nights and weekends as needed.
