What you’ll be doing:

  • Identifying strategic barriers to growth – in concert with brand strategy, diagnose the comms challenges holding back clients from growing their business in the short- and long-term.
  • Market Analysis and Audience Research – develop clear and actionable insight into media opportunities, using audience research (get human: go well beyond media consumption), market-specific research (population, drive time radius), and contextual opportunities for resonance that can drive compelling comms strategies
  • Building Connected Comms Systems – insight- and creative-driven campaign development. Design integrated brand + performance driving Comms & Connections Strategies in concert with Brand Strategy and Creative team; primary focus on paid media strategy, but fluency with how other communications tactics (Public Relations/Earned Media, Creators, CRM, Events & Sponsorships) create a connected system.
  • Recommend Holistic Measurement Infrastructure – establish clear accountability for the comms strategy across short and long term KPIs. Identify appropriate measurement tools and partners, onboard them for the client, and apply learnings from multiple systems to guide strategy and optimizations.
  • Coaching and Leadership – as a leader within the Media practice, you’ll have the opportunity to help grow the team and shape the direction of the discipline. Maintain a culture of continuous learning, cultivate new skills, and provide the opportunity for people to do work that helps advance their careers.
  • New Business – support new business growth, both as a contributor to pitch strategy and as a key presence in client engagements.

What you’re great at:

  • Effectiveness-based, integrated media strategy – strong foundations in marketing effectiveness principles paired with creative applications in the modern media landscape. You should be familiar with, and commonly use in strategy development, principles like Excess Share of Voice, Physical Availability, Mental Market Share, Category Entry Points, Attentive Reach & Active Attention, and balancing Brand:Performance ratios.
  • Balancing Intuition and Data – connected thinking often requires being adaptable, and a willingness to balance tradeoffs and make big bets. You have an innate ability to bring creative thinking to Comms in a way that makes ideas and their impact for clients bigger.
  • Cross-Channel Measurement – experience developing holistic measurement systems that capture a range of short- and long-term measures and apply blended measurement techniques (MMM, Brand Health, Commercial Outcomes); strong analysis of performance and how it can be improved in both tactical and strategic shifts
  • Data Governance – ability to consult on media and audience data requirements for campaign execution and measurement. Familiarity with tagging, CDPs, Data Clean Rooms, data warehouses & media data ingestion, and sensitive data handling protocols are required.

What you have in your history:

  • 8+ years of Media Strategy in an agency environment (independent, full-service agency preferred)
  • 3+ years of team leadership and people management
  • Experience leading media investment through multiple buying models:
  • Platform (Google/Meta/TikTok/Amazon)
  • Programmatic (The Trade Desk, Simpli.fi, Nexxen, Digilant)
  • Direct to Publisher (Broadcast, OOH)
  • Working with Advanced Measurement Systems: Media Mix Models + Advanced Attribution + Direct Client Sales data
  • Experience working in complex industries: franchise systems blending local & national marketing, healthcare & financial services, travel & hospitality

Key Skills:

  • Working knowledge of marketing effectiveness principles (Ehrenberg-Bass Institute, IPA/Binet & Field); actively contributes to agency education, training, and thought leadership
  • Superb Communication – make sophisticated media concepts accessible to people with a wide range of marketing & advertising experience; proven ability to collaborate effectively with creative, strategy and account teams, clients, and partners
  • Process Design & Automation – help develop repeatable processes that scale with our media team’s growth.

Reports to: EVP, Head of Media 

Work Location: Mythic is headquartered in Charlotte, NC; highly qualified candidates may be considered for a fully remote role.

Mythic employees are expected to work from 9:00am-5:30pm EST, but may also require evenings and weekends as client needs dictate.
