About Lucid Bots:

Lucid Bots Inc. is an AI robotics company that extends human reach by building the world’s most productive and responsible robots. Our robots allow people to perform dangerous and demanding tasks without putting human life and safety at risk.

Headquartered in Charlotte, we design, engineer, manufacture, and support our products domestically. Our current line of production-ready robots includes the Sherpa, a cleaning drone, and the Lavo Bot, a pressure-washing ground-based robot. Our products elevate safety and efficiency for customers all around the world. Lucid Bots was recently recognized as the fourth fastest-growing manufacturing company in the United States.

We are venture-backed, with multi-round investments from Y Combinator (S19 batch), Cubit Capital, Idea Fund Partners, Danu Ventures, and others. Learn more about our vision.

Our Core Values and How We Work Together:

Meeting the demands of our fast-growing venture-backed startup requires commitment from every team member—a commitment to each other, to the customers, and to the broader community. Our core values guide us in how we fulfill that commitment every day:

  • Lead with Compassion: Foster an inclusive and supportive environment where people feel valued and heard.
  • Grow with Purpose: Embrace learning, adaptation, and intentional decision-making.
  • Win as One Team: Collaborate and share ownership of our vision and outcomes.
  • Be Positive Agents of Change: Take ownership and drive impactful actions.
  • Pursue Extraordinary Impact: Solve meaningful problems with innovation and effort.

Role Objective:

The Entry-Level Electrical Engineer will play an essential role in the design, testing, and optimization of electrical systems that power Lucid Bots’ robotics platforms. In this role, you will contribute to developing high-performance, reliable, and scalable electronics by working closely with interdisciplinary teams across mechanical, software, systems, and test engineering.

You will be instrumental in testing and designing the hardware infrastructure for Lucid Bots’ next-generation products by ensuring robust designs that prioritize safety, efficiency, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and test mixed-signal circuits, power delivery systems, and embedded control electronics for robotics platforms.
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and improve electrical systems using diagnostic tools (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers).
  • Develop and refine schematic diagrams, PCB layouts, and harness designs to meet electrical performance specifications and system integration requirements.
  • Conduct design verification tests (DVT) and support compliance testing to ensure designs meet regulatory standards (e.g., FCC, CE, UL).
  • Document designs, test results, and technical processes to support knowledge sharing within the engineering team.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong foundation in mixed-signal circuit design, including analog and digital systems, and experience with power delivery systems and embedded control electronics.
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, KiCad, or Eagle, with the ability to create and interpret wiring diagrams and harness designs.
  • Basic knowledge of power and signal integrity, EMI/EMC and crosstalk mitigation, grounding techniques, and thermal management.
  • Hands-on experience using diagnostic tools (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers) for debugging and validation.
  • Familiarity with design verification tests (DVT) and compliance standards like FCC, CE, or UL.
  • Excellent documentation skills to support team collaboration, with strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with basic embedded systems and microcontroller programming (e.g., ARM Cortex, STM32, Arduino)
  • Strong testing, debugging and problem-solving skills for both hardware and firmware-related challenges
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; robotics or embedded systems experience is a plus.

Why You Should Join Lucid Bots:

          • Be a core contributor to innovative robotics systems that push the boundaries of real-world applications.
          • Collaborate with experts across multiple disciplines, working in a supportive, fast-paced, and dynamic environment.
          • Gain hands-on experience and mentorship from experienced engineers dedicated to your growth.
          • Be part of a mission-driven organization that values creativity, continuous improvement, and excellence.

Success in This Role Looks Like:

              • Delivering reliable electrical systems and PCBs that exceed key performance metrics for energy efficiency, noise reduction, and thermal performance.
              • Successfully supporting the integration of new designs into functional prototypes and production units.
              • Conducting comprehensive testing and validation cycles to resolve issues before deployment.
              • Collaborating effectively to meet project milestones while documenting effectively as our product line grows.

                Additional Notes:

This role is based in Charlotte, NC, and requires regular collaboration with the on-site team. The Electrical Engineer will have opportunities to work hands-on with cutting-edge robotics hardware, helping bridge the gap between conceptual design and real-world applications.

                Benefits:

                • Health, dental, and vision insurance
                • 3% retirement match
                • 15 days of paid time off (PTO)
                • 11 paid holidays
                • Company employee option plan
                • Other benefits
