Role Overview:

The Director of Client Growth is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, operational excellence, and team leadership of our client growth department.

This position manages other team members (currently contractors) at the manager level or below within the department, ensuring our firm delivers exceptional results across all growth-focused client accounts and consistently exceeds client expectations. We intend to expand this department with FT employees as we achieve departmental KPIs and increase revenue streams, so you will have the opportunity to build your full-time team along with the Co-Founders.

You will serve as both a strategic leader internally and a senior advisor to our clients who require ongoing growth marketing strategies to drive revenue in their specific industry. Strategic planning will span across paid media, content, digital presence, sales enablement, and performance analytics.

Your ability to think strategically, lead with vision, and drive measurable growth outcomes will be key to scaling our growth services and maintaining the exceptional quality that defines Cooth.

Location: Remote (company HQ in Charlotte)

Salary: $100,000 – $110,000 per year

Additional Compensation: Performance bonuses (client profitability goals, client retainment goals), net-new business sourcing (your introduction to Cooth – 5% of first engagement – this does not apply to Cooth-sourced accounts), retirement match program: 100% of 1%, 50% of the next 6%.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Department Oversight:

  • Lead the client growth department, overseeing current contractors and future full-time team members that will report to you
  • Set the strategic vision and standards for client growth management across the firm
  • Develop and implement processes, frameworks, and best practices that ensure consistency and excellence across all growth-focused client accounts
  • Monitor account health across the entire portfolio, identifying risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and coaching sessions with direct reports to drive professional development and accountability
  • Establish and track department KPIs, including client satisfaction, retention rates, campaign performance, and team performance metrics
  • Collaborate with Cooth’s founders to align client growth strategy with overall business objectives and growth plans

Team Development & Leadership:

  • Recruit, onboard, train, and develop Growth Account Managers and client growth team members
  • Create a culture of excellence, data-driven thinking, and client-first mentality within the department
  • Lead regular team meetings to share best practices, address challenges, and foster collaboration
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to help team members advance their strategic thinking and growth marketing capabilities
  • Manage workload distribution and resourcing across the team to ensure optimal performance and prevent burnout
  • Model the “Cooth Way” and ensure all team members uphold company values and standards

Client Relationship Excellence:

  • Oversee high-level strategic relationships with Cooth’s most complex or highest-value growth accounts
  • Step in as senior advisor on challenging client situations, helping to navigate complex issues and strengthen relationships
  • Ensure all clients receive proactive growth guidance and that account teams are thinking three steps ahead
  • Implement systems to regularly gather client feedback and drive continuous improvement in client experience
  • Review and approve major growth strategies, proposals, and presentations before they go to clients
  • Identify patterns across client accounts that inform broader recommendations for Cooth’s growth service offerings

Growth Services Execution & Oversight:

  • Lead and oversee the delivery of paid advertising strategies across relevant platforms (LinkedIn, Google, Meta, etc.), ensuring campaigns are optimized for performance and aligned with client goals
  • Develop and manage thought leadership programs that position clients as credible, visible experts in their industries
  • Build and maintain sales enablement materials that support client business development efforts, including decks, one-pagers, and content libraries
  • Oversee GEO and SEO strategies that improve client discoverability in both traditional and AI-driven search environments
  • Manage or supervise web maintenance and landing page development efforts that support conversion and growth objectives
  • Supervise HubSpot and other CRM platforms to support client pipeline management, reporting, and lead nurturing workflows
  • Oversee the creation and quality of marketing assets that support client campaigns and growth initiatives
  • Build robust analytics frameworks to track, interpret, and report on growth performance across all client accounts
  • Support client participation in conferences and industry events, including content preparation, booth presence strategy, and post-event follow-through
  • Oversee newsletter strategy and execution for clients, ensuring consistent voice, valuable content, and measurable engagement
  • Develop and deliver market benchmarks and performance reporting that contextualize client results against industry standards
  • Monitor and synthesize market trends across client industries to proactively inform growth strategies and recommendations

Quality Assurance & Standards:

  • Maintain oversight of all client deliverables, ensuring they meet Cooth’s standards for strategic thinking, creative quality, and execution
  • Conduct spot-checks and quality reviews across accounts to ensure consistency and excellence
  • Establish clear quality benchmarks and hold the team accountable to those standards
  • Intervene when work does not meet expectations, coaching team members on how to elevate quality
  • Ensure project management practices are tight, timelines are realistic, and internal systems (e.g., Teamwork) are utilized effectively across all accounts

Strategic Growth & Business Development:

  • Identify up-sell and expansion opportunities across the client portfolio
  • Partner with founders on complex new business proposals and high-value pitches
  • Lead presentations to prospective clients for growth accounts with performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Analyze client trends and market insights to inform Cooth’s service development and positioning
  • Support business development efforts through conferences, networking, thought leadership, and industry presence
  • Contribute strategic insights to Cooth’s marketing efforts and brand elevation

Reporting & Performance Analysis:

  • Oversee department-wide reporting on client progress, campaign performance, and ROI
  • Analyze data across accounts to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for strategic improvement
  • Present regular updates to founders on department performance, client health, and growth opportunities
  • Ensure all account managers are delivering customized, insightful reports to their clients consistently
  • Use data and insights to drive decision-making and continuous improvement across the department

Process & Operations Management:

  • Continuously refine and optimize client onboarding, project management, and communication processes
  • Ensure proper documentation and knowledge management across all client accounts
  • Manage escalations effectively and implement lessons learned to prevent future issues
  • Oversee contractor management and integration to ensure seamless delivery across accounts
  • Drive efficiency improvements that allow the team to scale without sacrificing quality

Qualifications

Required:

  • 7+ years of experience in growth marketing, digital strategy, account management, or consulting roles
  • 3+ years of people management experience, including coaching and developing managers
  • Proven track record of managing complex client relationships and driving measurable growth outcomes
  • Strong strategic thinking abilities with experience advising senior executives (Founders, CXOs, Marketing leads)
  • Hands-on experience with paid advertising platforms (Google Ads, LinkedIn, Meta, etc.)
  • Proficiency with HubSpot or comparable CRM platforms
  • Working knowledge of SEO/GEO principles and digital content strategy
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to oversee multiple accounts simultaneously
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with exceptional attention to detail
  • Experience building and implementing processes and frameworks that drive consistency and excellence
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in reporting, metrics tracking, and data-driven decision making
  • Experience with project management tools (Teamwork, Asana, or similar platforms)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities

Preferred:

  • Background in B2B marketing, growth strategy, or demand generation consulting
  • Experience in a fast-paced creative agency or consulting environment
  • Track record of identifying and closing up-sell opportunities
  • Experience with remote team management and distributed team collaboration
  • Familiarity with web analytics tools (Google Analytics, HubSpot reporting, etc.)
  • Experience developing or overseeing thought leadership and content programs
  • Familiarity with conference marketing and event-based lead generation
