We’ve spent five years building the data moat, the audience, and the marketplace infrastructure. Now we’re in the growth phase — deploying capital, scaling the team, and moving fast. Every role we hire right now has real ownership, real impact, and a front-row seat to what it looks like to build a category-defining company.

The Opportunity

We’re at an inflection point — fresh capital deployed, a lending vertical launching, and a summer fundraise on the horizon. We need a Fractional Controller who can own the financial infrastructure between our bookkeeper and our strategic modeling, and ensure that leadership has clean, current, and actionable financial visibility at all times.

This is a 3-month engagement with strong potential to extend. You’ll take full ownership of financial reporting, cash tracking, and the investor-ready package we need to go into our next raise with confidence. The COO should be spending his time on product and operations — not pulling together financial reports.

We’re not looking for someone to audit what’s already been done. We’re looking for someone to own the financial picture going forward and make sure we always know exactly where we stand.

What you’ll own

  • Weekly financial dashboard covering cash position, burn rate, runway, and revenue vs. plan — delivered proactively to leadership
  • Monthly P&L and cash flow statements on a fixed cadence
  • A maintained, scenario-ready financial model that can answer burn, runway, and revenue sensitivity questions without a rebuild
  • Revenue projection model incorporating lead delivery volume, sales pipeline, and partner conversion rates — updated weekly in coordination with Sales Ops
  • Revenue cohort and retention analysis — updated monthly and investor-ready
  • Capital raise financial package: burn, runway, cohort data, and a clear financial narrative for the summer raise
  • Coordination with our bookkeeper (month-end close) and our strategic modeling firm to eliminate gaps and manual reconciliation

What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years in financial operations, controllership, or FP&A — startup or SaaS experience strongly preferred
  • Proven experience building and maintaining financial models that drive real decisions
  • Comfortable owning investor-facing financial narratives and preparing fundraising packages
  • Detail-oriented and proactive — you surface risks and anomalies before they become problems
  • CPA or equivalent experience preferred
  • Able to work independently in a lean, fast-moving environment with minimal oversight
  • Experience with revenue-based businesses or marketplaces is a plus
