Huntington is seeking a Director of Sports and Partnership Communications to develop and execute comprehensive communications strategies that help elevate Huntington’s presence on a national scale, with a particular focus on public relations efforts in support of large-scale sponsorships.

This role will work in close collaboration with leaders across the Corporate Communications and Marketing teams to develop consistent and impactful messaging and amplify company storytelling.

The Director of Sports and Partnership Communications will play a pivotal role in supporting major national sponsorships, including Huntington’s recently launched national golf platform and major partnerships in collegiate and professional football.

This individual will develop and execute the communications strategy for these sponsorships, ensuring alignment with company priorities and maximizing visibility across all relevant channels, including media relations, social media, and employee communications.

The ideal candidate will bring significant public relations experience and a proven track record of successfully managing communications in support of major partnerships for a large public company.

The Director will lead a small internal team of communications experts, as well as oversee agency resources to ensure the effective and timely execution of large-scale projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead communications planning and execution for large-scale national sponsorships, including golf and football partnerships.
  • Collaborate with leaders in Corporate Communications and Marketing to create unified and impactful messaging in support of key sponsorships and partnerships.
  • Manage a small internal team and agency partners to deliver on high-profile initiatives and ensure alignment with company priorities.
  • Serve as a point of contact for all internal and external communications related to sponsorships and brand initiatives, including media inquiries and stakeholder engagement.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff and partners on communications best practices.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of communication efforts and recommend improvements to strengthen the company’s position.
  • Support the identification of public speaking opportunities and related messaging for company leaders, especially in the context of major sponsorships and partnerships.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, awareness, and responsiveness within the Corporate Communications team and across the organization.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in communications, public relations, or related field, with a record of managing communications in support of major projects, sponsorships or campaigns for a large public company.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute multi-channel communications strategies in support of large-scale sponsorships and national campaigns.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing internal teams and agency partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
  • Strong executive presence, with high degree of comfort presenting and providing counsel to senior leaders. 
  • Experience working in the financial services sector.
  • Passion for sports and deep knowledge of the sports business industry, particularly related to golf and football.

Compensation Range:

$125,000-$255,000 annually

The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.

Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan.
