Hello Thursday. Last night, I chatted with my 10-year-old son about buying a new golf driver. He told me he had saved $227 cash in his velcro wallet inside his desk drawer.
Thatās when it hit me ā I send a money newsletter to 10,598 of you, but I havenāt talked to my son about money!
So I texted a handful of savvy Tiny Money parents. Many use the Greenlight app to teach their kids about investing, goal setting, interest, and payments. I hadnāt heard of it.
If youāve got tools or thoughts on how to teach a 10-year-old about personal finance, reply with tips! Anyways.

34-year-old Natalie Parmenter
"When I was a kindergarten teacher, parents would ask me the same 20 questions every year," Natalie Parmenter told me. "So I created a YouTube channel to start answering these questions."
Income target: Natalieās goal this year is to surpass $50K, which was her salary after 10 years as a teacher in CMS š¤Æ
Revenue breakdown: Natalie's mission is to help parents navigate the elementary education system so their kids can thrive in school.
-
Workshops and courses – 40% ($55 and frequently selling out)
-
Speaking engagements – 25%
-
Parent advisory calls – 20% ($99, which is an unreal deal IMO)
-
Ad partnerships – 10%
-
Tutoring- 5%
-
YouTube, TikTok, Instagram – 0% (top of funnel)
Private school: "I'd estimate that many of the popular private schools (Charlotte Area Independent Schools- CAIS) have a 20% – 30% acceptance rate. It's competitive!"
Pet peeve: "It really bothers me how much garbage school rating sites dictate the opinions of schools in Charlotte."
Optimism: "Thereās a lot of distrust in education right now. But I promise you, somewhere there is a teacher daydreaming of their new class, waiting to meet your child."

Job: "A few years ago, I left a $180K tech job to start a company. Now I'm a semi-unemployed tech product strategist doing $4K/mo in consulting. I'm looking for a full-time job."
On your mind: "I see so many parenting hacks about investing $300/mo in your child's brokerage accounts and 529 plan… and I'm like, well shit, I only have a savings account for her birthday money."
Splurge: "I love finding life hack products on TikTok. Travel mini vacuum? Yes, how cute, I'll take one."
Best money decision: "Buying a house in Steele Creek. We were looking in Cotswold and Matthews, but we love it here. Our home equity is now ridiculous."
Wedding: "We spent $40K of our own money. It was so stressful and caused so much tension. We should have gone on a trip and saved that money."
Rich in Charlotte: "Buying one of the palatial old homes in Myers Park. If you can afford one of those comfortably and still have a social life, good on you."
