Hello Thursday. Good Food on Montford will close on August 29. RIP. I love it there. Amazing 18-year run by owner Bruce Moffett, who will focus on Stagioni and Barrington's.
I'll miss Good Food's $12 Pommes Frites, $18 Green Curry Mussels, $17 Garganelli Pasta, $17 Larry's Buns, and $19 Korean Beef. Sneaky good dirty martini too.
Bittersweet, a new small plate and cocktail concept, will replace Good Food. It's led by Lee Ann Dolcetto, an 18-year Moffett Restaurant Group employee.
“It just seemed like a good way to set her off on her dream,” Bruce told CBJ. “I’ve always wanted to see the people who work for me be successful.”
Only 4 reservations available over Good Food's remaining 15 nights. I snagged one. Anyways.

5 "Booming" Crumbl Cookie locations for sale asking $2.1M for multi-unit package
| |
For sale: Rare 5-unit package of Crumbl Cookies franchise locations across North Carolina just hit the market for $2.1M.
Financials: Revenue $3.9M. EBITDA $750K. FF&E $1.5M. 54 total employees. Leases assignable to buyer.
In the news: Crumbl Cookies made local headlines with viral video of employee doing hair inside the store. Average unit volume is down from about $1.8M to $1.1M in the past few years.
Bottom line: It’s an embattled cookie brand, but at just 2.8x earnings, the value may be tasty enough for a disciplined operator to bite.

Money Talks is a weekly series showcasing how real people in Charlotte approach money. Participate.
Living situation: “Own. Bought in 2020 in Plaza Midwood. 30-year fixed 2.99% interest rate. I wish I had bought in Barclay Downs and maxed my budget. But I am thankful to have a home and be building equity.”
Job: “Independent financial advisor. $200K. My client book is small, just $25M in total assets under management.”
Money hack: “Be an expert in one career area. Focus on it completely.”
Philosophy: “I believe in indexing. Constantly save and increase your savings rate to the point it’s uncomfortable. I don’t buy and sell. Buy, hold, and buy more regardless of price.”
Rich in Charlotte: “$10M. I see people in Charlotte with nice cars and nice homes and wonder their net worth compared to the quiet rich who live modestly.”
