Seemingly Overzealous Ice Cream opens in Davidson, on track for $1M year

| |
Now open: Seemingly Overzealous invested $323K to open its 4th ice cream shop in Davidson. The local ice cream shop is on track for $1M in revenue selling $5 scoops.
Economics: Once fully ramped up, each ice cream shop can do about $600K in annual revenue.
-
"On a given product, margins range from 44% to 78%," explained Garrett. "So, we have to sell a lot of $5 scoops to cover our other costs (payroll, rent, etc) and turn a profit."
-
The growing ice cream brand targets 1,000-1,500 square foot neighborhood spaces, which typically charge $45-$50 per square-foot.
-
Look for Seemingly Overzealous to add shakes, ice cream tacos, ice cream cakes, pops, and more creator collabs.
Advice: "Be relentless every single day," says Garrett. "People often tell us, 'I see Seemingly Overzealous… everywhere,' and that's by design. In this economy, awareness is the name of the game."

Money Talks is a weekly series showcasing how real people in Charlotte approach money. Participate.
Living situation: “Own a house with my husband. 15-year mortgage at 5.25%. We pay an additional $4,000 per month towards the principal.”
Family: “No children yet, but we want them. I feel like we can’t have kids until we feel more financially secure.”
Job: “Fintech product manager. I make $190K, which includes base, bonus, and RSUs. My husband makes roughly the same.”
Work-life balance: “Kinda fine, kinda crap. It’s all mental. I am stuck in my head. I'm so nervous about AI that all I can do is think about work. I really want hobbies.”
Budgeting: “YES! We talk weekly about our spending patterns using a dashboard I built for us with Claude.”
Retirement: “Goal is $6M by 55 so we can get low-key jobs for the last 10 working years. Maybe we open the coffee shop we’ve always dreamed of.”
Rich in Charlotte: “$4M. You could easily live off the interest. However, I’ve been trying to mentally reduce this number. It feels like wealth hoarding.”
On your mind: “Motherhood is taking a different shape in my mind than I expected. It feels more calculating than I would like.”
