Hello Thursday. OMG, Oshen is such a vibe. I went there on Sunday night. Absolutely slammed. Buzzing. I felt like I was in Miami, not a South Charlotte strip center!!
Did I need the tabletop sake dispenser and $75 Nigiri Canoe? Of course I did. And their $8.50 Edamame with ponzu and chili garlic is a top 10 dish in Charlotte.
Congrats to owners Anthony, Randy, and Cinthya on creating something truly unique. Somehow they’ve managed to thread the needle of suburban family sushi spot and vibey night-club. Anyways.

Amber and Dean open the perfect neighborhood restaurant in Plaza Shamrock
| |
$16 Caesar and Fries and $8 dirty martini with “ranch stuffed” olives
| |
Now open: PostScript, a neighborhood restaurant from Amber Donoghue and Dean Orr, quietly opened a few weeks ago in the former Letty’s space.
Order instructions: The confident menu only features 6 starters and 5 main plates. Must orders👇
-
$16 Caesar and Fries served on a silver platter (add a martini for $8)
-
$28 Pork Chop sourced from their friend’s farm near Charleston
-
$26 Nicoise Salad topped with Ahi tuna and a jammy egg
Badass move: Instead of the typical press release and influencer night, Amber and Dean opened PostScript by turning on a “Sincerely Open” neon window sign and texting neighbors.
Tiny take: In a town filled with trendy, new restaurants (ex, Uchi), I can’t help but admire Amber and Dean’s lowkey approach to becoming a neighborhood staple.

Money Talks is a weekly series showcasing how real people in Charlotte approach money. Participate.
Living situation: “Own a house. I've got a 10-year-old. I wish I could afford to send her to fancy summer camps. I'm already thinking about the cost of college.”
Job: “Librarian. I make $90K. My husband makes an additional $135K.”
Savings goal: “We have 2 trip funds. We want to go to Italy in 2027 and Tokyo in 2031. So far, we have $1,500 in the Italy fund and $3,000 in the Tokyo fund.”
Debt: “Just our mortgage and $15K in credit card debt, which I’m working hard to pay down!”
Decision: “I want to join a gym, but I don’t go enough to justify it. The YMCA costs around $150 for a family package. I hate going weeks at a time without using it.”
Rich in Charlotte: “Net worth of $250K or higher.”
On your mind: “My husband owns a franchise and wants to open a second location. It’s a $200K investment. We'd have to borrow from friends and family.”
